What is System Design?
System Design is the systematic approach that covers a wide range of engineering concepts and principles for designing scalable systems that are modular, reusable, and extensible, from distributed fundamentals like CAP theorem, replication, and partitioning to AI-integrated architectures like RAG pipelines, vector databases, and multi-agent orchestration.
Low-Level Design is the process of designing software components, interfaces, and modules in a modular, reusable, extensible manner, including schema design for feature stores, hybrid search systems, and ML pipelines that serve AI-driven products at scale.
High-Level Design covers architecture, hardware/software components, data flow, and caching, including choices like SQL vs. NoSQL, event-driven vs. request-driven architectures, stateful vs. stateless AI services, and multi-region deployments with data residency constraints
