Scaler Academy was life-changing for me!

The only things worth working towards are growth and competence.

Monetary increment should not be your sole reason for making a switch from one place to another. It should be something that would bring you joy and satisfaction.

I am Gaurav Pareek, and I am currently working at Amazon.

Like most people, my journey in engineering began with staying in Kota for a couple of years for my preparation. My marks weren’t enough to get me an IIT, but I don’t think it disheartened me. I got into NIT Hamirpur for Computer Science, and I had an amazing time there. I used to spend my time gaming, traveling, playing sports, music, and doing so many other things.

My previous company was nice, but I don’t think I was being challenged enough. It was an ambiguous situation for me. I need to feel that I belong to a certain place in order to work for them, it should give me a sense of belonging which wasn’t available to me at my previous company. I don’t think I was able to help society or even my company in any manner. The transition from there to Amazon has definitely been enabled by my hard work and consistency. Everything started falling in place with these, and I am finally where I wanted to be.

Scaler has been the greatest support for me during my journey. Most of the credit for my transformation goes to Scaler. It was life-changing for me. When I joined Scaler, I was made to believe that I can achieve a lot more than what I have right now. Timely sessions with engineers already placed in big companies were a great help for me. I was taught every aspect of software engineering, and it was extremely beneficial. The biggest benefit of being at Scaler was that they made me a good software engineer. If you have a good foundation, you can build a better building on top of it. Scaler definitely helped me build that foundation.

I’d also like to mention a few things that helped me in my journey to where I am today. The journey will be different for everyone, and everyone needs to build their own path but motivation to do things always puts people at an advantage to achieve the goal. Identify the gaps between you and your goal and start working on them. Also, it’s important to solve problems as they help a lot, be it your interview or in your current job. Even if you do one problem every day, it sums up to 365 problems in one year, and I have not solved more than 300 problems. This should give you the motivation to work steadily towards your goal, and be confident about it.
