Sacramento Kings and Scaler to Award Local Software Engineer with Upskilling Scholarship to Scaler Academy

Scaler, one of the fastest-growing edtech startups in India and now the United States, today announced Vivek Ranadivé, owner of the Sacramento Kings, will be the first guest of “Scaler Power Player Sessions,” a new speaker series featuring conversations with some of the world’s most inspiring and successful business leaders from across education, entrepreneurship, technology, sports, and more.

Ranadivé will kick-off the series on Thursday, Sept. 29, alongside Scaler co-founder Abhimanyu Saxena, providing Scaler students the opportunity to hear about his unique journey, success in technology, owning a sports team, lessons learned, and more. To support Scaler’s recent U.S. expansion, the Sacramento Kings and Scaler will award a local software engineer in the Sacramento area with a full scholarship to Scaler’s U.S. upskilling program, Scaler Academy.

Based in Bengaluru, India, Scaler was founded in 2019 to help computer science professionals become high-quality software engineers.  Since then, the company has seen incredible growth, including recently launching its groundbreaking education platform in the U.S., where veterans of the world’s leading tech companies like Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft and Netflix serve as instructors, mentors, and career coaches.

Overall, more than four million people have accessed Scaler’s content across India and the U.S., including 25,000 paid learners. Scaler’s unrivaled, hands-on virtual learning experience has resulted in a student job placement rate of nearly 95% and a 130% average increase in salaries.

In 1986, Ranadivé founded Teknekron Software Systems, whose technology automated Wall Street trading and became the engine for most of the world’s capital markets.  In 1997, he founded TIBCO Software Inc. in Palo Alto, California, which brought real-time technology into business operations and decision-making.  In 2013, Ranadivé became the first Indian majority owner of an NBA team when he purchased the Sacramento Kings.

“I’ve been drawn to unexpected business ventures my entire life, and I learned  early on that in order to pursue your dreams, you have to start with a daring mind,” Ranadivé said. “I love sharing my experiences with young people who are just getting a foothold in their careers, and with our missions closely aligned – to help guide the next generation of innovators – I’m delighted to get the chance to do that with Scaler.”

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with a tech visionary like Vivek for the launch of our new speaker series,” said Saxena. “Vivek is known for breaking molds in the business and sports worlds and it’s an honor to get the chance to sit down with him to hear more about his inspiring life and work, and to share his advice with our students as they pursue their dreams. This is just the beginning for Scaler Power Player Sessions!”

Designed for software professionals, Scaler is an upskilling platform that provides unrivaled, hands-on learning experiences through a modern curriculum that exposes learners to cutting-edge technologies.
