- If we can make the array equal, what will be the final equal element? When can’t we make the array equal?
- If we can make the array equal, the final equal element will be min(A).
- So, for each i, the following condition should hold:
=> A[i] - x*B = min(A)
=> A[i] - min(A) = x*B
=> (A[i] - min(A)) % B = 0
- If the final condition doesn’t hold for any i, then it is impossible and return -1. Otherwise, minimum number of operations is
∑(1 ≤ i ≤ |A|) (A[i] - min(A)) / B.
