Scaler Academy Reviews in 2026: What Learners Say, and What Has Changed
If you have gone through Scaler Academy reviews before deciding whether to join, you have probably noticed that not all of them describe the same Scaler Academy.
So, what does the experience look like now? And what has changed since those reviews were written?
Let's get into it.
Is Scaler Academy good?
Scaler Academy provides a structured, instructor-led learning experience with guidance, feedback, and accountability throughout the program. It requires a significant amount of time commitment per week. The course content itself is accessible through various free resources, so if you don’t have any problem planning and completing your learning without additional guidance or structure, then you can choose that path instead of enrolling in Scaler Academy.
What Has Actually Changed Since the Criticism, And What Hasn't
There have been various questions and concerns for Scaler over the years. They include whether the same content is available for free, how class recordings work, what happens when classes are rescheduled, how consistent the mentor experience is, what placement support actually provides, and how often the curriculum changes.
Some of those concerns led to changes in the program. Some still describe parts of the experience today. Here is where each of those points stands as of September 2026:
| The criticism | Was it fair when it was made? | What is true in September 2026 | Still fair? |
|---|---|---|---|
| The content is available free elsewhere | Yes | Free resources are still available for the subjects covered in the program | Yes |
| Class recordings and access | Yes | Recordings are guaranteed for six months after the learner's last mandatory class, subject to the current Terms & Conditions | The access terms have changed |
| Classes get rescheduled | Yes | Classes can still be rescheduled, with recordings available for missed or rescheduled classes | Partly |
| Mentor quality is inconsistent | Yes | Mentor experience can vary, and learners can request a mentor change | Partly |
| Placement support is oversold for freshers | No | Scaler Academy is currently for working professionals with at least one year of experience, with career support but no placement guarantee | The current Academy has different eligibility |
| The curriculum kept being restructured | Yes | The curriculum continues to be updated, including AI across programming, DSA, and later modules | Partly |
| Quality drops after the DSA module | Yes | The curriculum now moves from DSA into databases, backend engineering, data engineering, system design, and AI | Partly |
There have been significant changes to the program over time to cater to learners better. At the same time, there are certain aspects that are more personal, and we believe it is best for you to look at them based on your own learning style and requirements.
For example, we have heard the question of why someone should pay for a program when the course content is available for free elsewhere. We completely agree that for almost any topic, you can find resources to learn online. Our program is designed to help you understand those concepts better, structure your learning around the right topics, and provide guidance wherever required. If learning at your own pace works well for you, you may not need a structured program. If you prefer having a guided learning path and support along the way, that is something you can consider when deciding whether Scaler is right for you.

+1000 moreIs the Course Worth Paying For When The Content is Free Elsewhere?
Yes, you can learn DSA, system design, Python, SQL, and machine learning for free. YouTube, already have enough material to learn these subjects without paying for a program.
So what are you paying for? Through Scaler, you’ll have Structure, feedback, and accountability.
A free resource can give you a lecture, a problem set, or a complete roadmap. But it can be hard to decide what to learn next, stick to a schedule, get your work reviewed, and know where you are going wrong. A structured program puts those pieces into one learning path.
But that does not make the paid route necessary for everyone. If you are a disciplined self-learner with solid fundamentals, the free route may be the better answer. You can choose your own resources, set your own schedule, and build the same technical foundations without paying for structured support.
You also take on the responsibility for keeping that learning moving. You have to decide what to study next, find the right practice material, get feedback on your work, and stay consistent without a program keeping you on track. If you already do that well on your own, paying for additional structure may not add enough value for you.
For a closer look at what the fee actually pays for, see our detailed breakdown of the program and its costs.

Can you Access Class Recordings, And For How Long?
Yes. Scaler provides access to class recordings after the live session. Access to lecture recordings, mentor-session recordings, TA-session recordings, and masterclass recordings is guaranteed for six months after completion of the learner’s last mandatory class. If access needs to end earlier because of unforeseen circumstances, learners will receive 30 days’ notice to download the recordings. Scaler may also extend access beyond six months at its discretion.
The six-month period applies specifically to recordings. Other course resources have separate access terms, so access to recordings should not be taken to mean that every part of the program follows the same timeline.
As of September 2026, class recordings are guaranteed for six months after the learner’s last mandatory class, subject to the conditions in the current Terms & Conditions.
How Often do Classes Get Rescheduled?
Classes can be rescheduled, and Scaler's Terms & Conditions state that the company may cancel or reschedule live lectures and rearrange the schedule of topics. If a live class is moved, the recording can be used to catch up.
The program remains cohort-based and live, so changes to the class schedule can happen during the program. If you need to pause your course, previous recordings and doubt-resolution support remain available during the pause, while new lectures are not added until you resume.
Is Mentor Quality Consistent?
Mentor experience can vary. Scaler's mentors are working software professionals, so the experience depends on the mentor you are matched with and how well that working relationship fits your needs. Mentors support learners through 1:1 sessions, career guidance, mock interviews, and resume reviews.
If the mentor relationship isn't working for you, you can request a mentor change. Mentor changes are handled on a case-by-case basis, and you can choose from the available mentor pool based on your background and preferences.
That means you are not tied to the same mentor for the entire program if the initial match does not work well for you.
You can check what the program covers in the current curriculum before assessing whether the combination of coursework and mentorship suits you.
What Does Placement Support Actually Do for a Fresher?
Scaler provides career support, but it does not guarantee a job. This includes job opportunities, resume reviews, mock interviews, career guidance, and referrals through employer and alumni networks. The hiring decision remains with the employer.
The current Scaler Academy is designed for working professionals with at least one year of experience. Hence, for learners who are eligible for the program, career support is designed to help with the parts of the job search Scaler can actually support: preparing for interviews, improving resumes, finding relevant opportunities, and making connections with employers. Tests, interviews, and other selection steps are still determined by the hiring company, and referrals depend on factors such as performance and eligibility.
For placement stories and the salaries behind them, see our detailed breakdown of learner outcomes.
Why Was the Curriculum Restructured?
Scaler's curriculum has changed as the requirements of software engineering roles have changed. AI is now built into the program from the programming and DSA stages, including AI-assisted coding, labs, and assignments, instead of being treated as a separate topic at the end. The program has also expanded its AI coverage through areas such as Generative AI, while DSA, system design, and core software engineering continue to remain part of the curriculum.
These changes are reviewed after every batch using learner feedback and class analytics. The aim is to keep the core software engineering foundation intact while adding the skills learners need to work with newer tools and AI-driven development.
Does the Course Quality Hold Up After the DSA Module?
The modules after DSA used to have a common criticism for the earlier program. The curriculum has changed substantially since then. After DSA, it now covers databases and SQL, backend engineering, data engineering and system design, followed by specialised areas such as Generative AI.
AI is also introduced earlier in the program through AI-assisted coding and problem-solving in programming and DSA. Later modules cover areas such as LLMs, RAG, AI agents,s and AI application development. The post-DSA curriculum is therefore broader than it was when this criticism was raised, with more emphasis on both core software engineering and newer AI skills.
How Scaler Transformed Careers in Different Fields
Scaler learners achieved 2.5x salary growth with average post-Scaler CTC reaching ₹23L.
Who Should Not Enrol
Scaler Academy may not be the right fit for everyone. It may be worth considering other options if:
-
You already learn well independently: If you can plan your learning, complete long technical courses, and stay accountable without external structure, you may not need a structured program.
-
You only want to build one specific skill: If your goal is to add one skill to your existing toolkit, a full program may offer more than you need.
-
You cannot commit the time required: Live classes, practice, projects, and coursework require a consistent time commitment throughout the program.
-
You are mainly looking for a guaranteed job outcome: Scaler provides career support, preparation, and access to opportunities, but hiring decisions are made by employers and depend on your skills and performance through the hiring process.
If you want to test whether you can learn independently first, you can start with a free Python course instead.
Test it before you pay for it!
Pick a free course on the same subject and give it two focused weeks. If you finish it without anyone’s guidance, you probably don't need to buy structure, and that is a genuinely good outcome. And if it gets hard for you to stay on track, then you can clearly look into the program to help you better in your journey.
How to Check Any of This for Yourself
If you are considering Scaler Academy, a few simple checks can give you a better sense of whether the program fits what you are looking for:
-
Attend a class: Get a feel for the teaching style, pace, and interaction before making a decision.
-
Talk to alumni: Ask about the parts of the program that matter most to you, including the learning experience, mentors, and career support.
-
Look at the numbers closely: If you are reviewing placement or salary figures, check how they were calculated, who was included, and what the numbers actually measure.
-
Read the terms before you enrol: Pay attention to the terms around access, pauses, support and leaving the program, and keep a copy for your records.
