Who Owns The Android Operating System?
The answer to this question is pretty simple and obvious for most of us, it is owned by Google. In 2005 tech giant Google acquired the Android operating system from Android Inc., to develop the User Interface for the touchscreen devices like smartphones and tablets. It is developed under the co-arrangement of developers called Open Handset Alliance(OHA), sponsored by Google.
There are multiple partner companies in OHA including Samsung, HTC, Lenovo, and other smartphone manufacturers. The first commercial smartphone available in the market was the HTC Dream, announced on the 23rd of September 2008.
Google's Android division is the primary development and maintenance team of the Android OS. They release new updates, features, security patches, and versions for the Android OS. They support it via the google play services which are present in most of the android devices that come under OHA and are backed by Google.

Who Else Has a Stake in Android OS?
Google is the main stakeholder of Android OS, the mobile operating system and Android platform used on mobile devices, along with other partners in Open Handset Alliance(OHA), which helps shape the broader android ecosystem as device manufacturers build their own custom UI’s over the Android OS. Android began in 2003 at Android Inc., initially aimed at digital cameras before shifting toward mobile devices. Google acquired Android Inc. in 2005, and the HTC Dream became the first android phone. T-Mobile launched it commercially. Google’s Android division maintains the Android platform and releases Android versions over time, including new android versions, which other manufacturers then adapt for their devices. Through that support model, devices running Android receive new features, security enhancements, and security patches, though older android versions may be supported unevenly across brands.
Google launched the AOSP(Android Open Source Project) under which anyone can download the source code and make modifications and improvements to it. But certified devices commonly pair that open-source base with proprietary google services and the google play store, often accessed by users as the play store.
Amazon had used the AOSP in their fire phone, also the Chinese company named as Huawei banned by the USA government uses the AOSP to develop their smartphones in China. They don’t include the google play service features, support, etc. Android also powers other devices, including smart tvs, not just phones and tablets.
Who Created Android OS?
Andy Rubin is known as the father of android and started Android Inc. in 2003 with Rich Miner, Chris White, and Nick Sears, before the company was acquired by Google in 2005, after which Rubin became senior vice president of mobile and digital content, and the platform saw its initial release in 2008. Google announced Android publicly and Google introduced it as a new operating system for phones. It soon grew into a popular operating system, more specifically a popular mobile operating system, first seen on an android phone and later across many devices. Early releases focused on basics, while later android versions brought significant improvements and performance improvements, with on screen keyboard support arriving early and enhanced multitasking appearing in tablet-focused releases like jelly bean, which delivered significant performance improvements.
