On one side, you'll find people sharing offers from companies like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, as well as screenshots of ₹1 Cr+ packages. On the other, you'll see criticisms around placements taking longer than expected, the pace of the program, its structure, or whether the learning experience matched what they had hoped for. Makes you really think - is scaler worth it?
These stories might have felt quite contradictory. Because if one person is talking about a huge offer while another is questioning the placement experience, what are you supposed to make of it?

The Number: ₹45 LPA (and Its Fine Print)
The ₹45 LPA figure is one of the first numbers people notice in Scaler's Placement Report. Since it is also one of the big numbers in the report, it's easy to assume that it represents the salary earned by every learner or even the highest package. But it actually doesn't.
Here’s what it means: The ₹45 LPA is the average CTC of the top 25% of MSAE learners.
This means the report first identifies the 25% of learners who reported the highest CTCs during the reporting period. It then calculates the average salary across this entire group. The result is ₹45 LPA. The DSML report follows the same approach, where the top 25% of learners reported an average CTC of ₹42 LPA.
This also means the ₹45 LPA figure doesn't describe the outcomes of every learner in the cohort. It only describes the highest-earning quarter of learners. The report includes other salary metrics to represent different parts of the learner cohort, so that you have the proper picture of the outcomes and not just a handful of big numbers from the few high achievers.
That is also why you’ll see the scaler highest package being reported separately. For MSAE, the report mentions ₹1.4 Cr as the highest package, while DSML reports ₹2.8 Cr. In both cases, these packages are explicitly labelled as outliers in the report. And here, outliers are the exceptional individual outcomes and should not be interpreted as typical placement results or compared directly with the ₹45 LPA and ₹42 LPA averages.

Noticed a pattern?
The highest salary outcomes are concentrated in senior-level individual contributor and leadership roles, and that is why you won’t find these numbers spread evenly for other learners.
Also, this doesn't mean everyone in these roles is part of the top 25%, or that these are the only roles represented there. It simply shows that the highest salary outcomes are closely linked to role and seniority. In other words, the top quartile isn't a random mix of placements. It's largely made up of learners who moved into more senior roles.
The Cohort Behind the Quartile
We know what you’re thinking. What happens to the people who don’t have that level of experience?
We understand all too well, which is why the placement report shares the experience profile of the overall learner cohort. Around 28% of learners had 0 - 2 years of experience, while 27% had 7 or more years of experience. The remaining learners fall between these experience ranges.
But yes, in the report, the top 25% does not have a breakdown in terms of individual experience level.
That means it isn't possible to say how many of the highest earners came from each experience bracket. The overall cohort distribution is available, and you can check in detail the category you are most curious about.
The Honest Middle
For the MSAE program, the overall average CTC is ₹23 LPA.
