You get an executive certification from IIM Trichy in Future-Ready Business & Technology Management. IIM Trichy is ranked 9th among IIMs and 16th overall in NIRF 2025. This is an optional add-on you opt into during enrollment. It includes a 2-day campus immersion at IIM Trichy. The Scaler program certificate is issued regardless.

No minimum degree requirement. Minimum 2 years of professional experience is expected given the cohort context (most have 4-9 years). No coding required at any point in the program, not in assignments, not in the capstone.

Each specialisation has a defined capstone: Product builds an AI Personalisation Engine for Retention; Marketing builds a Meta-Grade Acquisition Engine; Supply Chain builds an AI Supply Chain Engine for Quick Commerce. These are scoped, deliverable projects, not essays or slide decks. You present a working system or a detailed execution blueprint to a panel.

Is there an in-person component?

One: the 2-day IIM Trichy campus immersion, which is part of the optional executive certification. Everything else (live sessions, mentorship, capstone presentations) is online.

Why would a company hire me into a PM or product leadership role with no PM title yet?

Accepted Answer

Companies hiring from engineering into product are looking for evidence of business judgment and cross-functional credibility, with strong technical foundation. When those skills are topped up with hands-on AI knowledge and work, you automatically unlock doors. The credential and capstone give you both right signaling as well as proof of work.

What level of product roles would I realistically land coming from SDE-3, Tech Lead, or Architect?

From SDE-3 with 4-6 years: PM or Senior PM at a mid-stage startup, or APM at a large tech company. From Tech Lead or Architect with 6-9 years to Senior PM or Group PM at a growth-stage company, or PM2 at a larger org. The exact level depends on your domain depth and how you position your skills learned at Scaler and substantiate with proof of work in the interview.

Are there any coding requirements in OPGP?

None. No coding assignments, no technical evaluations. You use tools like GPT, Claude, Gemini, Codex, Image generation model and other automation tools like n8n, Make.com, but as a product or business user, not as a developer.

Will I take a pay cut moving from senior engineering into product?

Accepted Answer

At Senior PM level in a well-funded startup or large tech company, total compensation is comparable to SDE-3 or Tech Lead. The risk is the transition year: if you move to an early-stage startup as PM, cash comp may drop while equity upside increases. At FAANG-equivalent companies, Senior PM comp exceeds SDE-3 in most cases.

Can I stay in my current company and move into product internally?

Yes, and it's the lower-risk path. Internal transfers into product are common for senior engineers who can show they understand the business side. The capstone and certification give you a structured argument for the internal case.
